How we Collect Information
In order to facilitate your
application or registration for WUSATA programs, we collect and
maintain personal information about you. WUSATA collects your
company and contact information from many sources to understand
and meet your needs. We may collect personal information about
you from:
- You, when you voluntarily provide us with information;
- Your browser, when you visit our
Web Site and your browser
interacts with us;
- Your interaction with any of the organizations associated with
WUSATA;
- Other sources, in connection with providing you WUSATA program
services.
The personal information we
collect about you through these various sources may include, but
is not limited to:
- Name, addresses and telephone numbers;
- Email addresses, fax numbers and pager numbers;
- Transactional and online activity data pertaining to your
application or request for WUSATA services;
- Personal/Company information provided via survey,
consultation, interview, seminars, or other Outreach or data
gathering efforts;
- Personal/Company information provided to WUSATA
representatives to research and resolve questions;
- Employer and/or other corporate affiliation (i.e. employer
name, title, address and contact information).
Aggregate Information
In addition to obtaining your
personal information, when you use our Web Site, we may collect
tracking information such as your browser type, the type of
operating system you use, the name of your Internet service
provider, and pages visited on the Web Site. WUSATA gets this
information by using technologies, including cookies and web
beacons to increase the functionality and user-friendliness of
our Web Site and to better tailor our Web Site to our visitors' needs.
We also use this information to verify that visitors meet the
criteria required to process their requests. None of this
tracking information identifies you personally; we collect it
for reporting onsite activity in the aggregate. For example, we
may want to know how long the average user spends on our Web
Site or
which pages or features get the most attention.
Use of Cookies
We use cookies on this Web Site to
ensure the integrity of the registration process and to
personalize the Web Site. A cookie is a small text file that is
placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be
used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.
Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a
web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
One of the primary purposes of
cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time.
For example, if you personalize a web page, or navigate within a
site, a cookie helps the site to recall your specific
information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of
delivering relevant content, eases site navigation, and so on.
When you return to the web site, the information you previously
provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the site's
features that you customized.
Web beacons, also known as clear
gif technology, or action tags, (see discussion below) may be
used to assist in delivering the cookie on our Web Site. This
technology is a tool we use to compile aggregated statistics
about Web Site usage, such as how many visitors clicked on key
elements (such as links or graphics) on a WUSATA.org web page,
blog or a newsletter. We may share aggregated site statistics
with partner companies.
Right to Refuse Cookies
You have the ability to accept or
decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies,
but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline
cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may
not be able to fully experience the interactive features of this
or other web sites you visit.
Use of Web Beacons
WUSATA.org web pages may
contain electronic images known as web beacons - sometimes
called single-pixel gifs - that allow WUSATA to count users
who have visited those pages and to deliver co-branded
services. WUSATA may include web beacons in promotional e-mail
messages or newsletters in order to determine whether messages
have been opened and acted upon.
Some of these web beacons may
be placed by third party service providers to help determine
the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns or e-mail
communications. These web beacons may be used by these service
providers to place a persistent cookie on your computer. Doing
this allows the service provider to recognize your computer
each time you visit certain pages or e-mails and compile
anonymous information in relation to those page views.
WUSATA.org prohibits web beacons from being used to collect or
access your personal information.
